Bamboo Villa at Wilder Sanctuary

A HOME WITH ROOM TO GATHER

The Pacific ahead.
The rainforest around you.

Wake to layers of green and a wide Pacific horizon. Handcrafted bamboo, generous rooflines and spaces opening towards the landscape give the villa its sense of place. Spend the morning swimming, stretch out with a book on the terrace, then gather around the table as the light changes over the ocean.

Designed for families and friends, Bamboo Villa welcomes up to ten guests across five bedrooms. Come with a full house, or a smaller group who would love a room of their own. There is space to spend time together and room to retreat into your own quiet rhythm.

THE INFINITY POOL

A whole afternoon, by the water.

The pool is part of the rhythm of a stay here: a refreshing morning swim, a pause between adventures, or a quiet place to watch the Pacific horizon. Step from the villa’s gathering spaces onto the terrace and let the views set the pace.

Surrounded by rainforest, the infinity edge opens towards the ocean. There is room for time together by the water and for the simple pleasure of staying still as the sky changes towards sunset.

THE MASTER SUITE

A room unlike any other.

The villa’s round master suite is one of its most distinctive spaces. A generous king-size canopy bed sits beneath the sweep of a circular bamboo ceiling, with a window above drawing light into the room.

Open the doors to a terrace that wraps around the suite, with rainforest close by and beautiful views towards the Pacific and sunset. Come out with your morning tea, pause in the hammock, or watch the last light move across the ocean.

The bathroom is an experience of its own: a striking outdoor space with a private garden and a marble bathtub. Surrounded by greenery, it offers a quiet, intimate place to bathe and slow down.

The master suite sleeps two and is included in the whole-villa rental. Flower baths and botanical rituals can be arranged separately.

FIVE BEDROOMS · UP TO TEN GUESTS

Rest well, in your own way.

We’ll plan the room arrangements personally with your group, whether you’re travelling as couples, family or friends.

THE MASTER BEDROOM

The round master suite.

A distinctive circular room with a king-size canopy bed beneath a soaring round bamboo ceiling and skylight. Its wraparound terrace looks towards the ocean and sunset, while a private garden bathroom with a marble bath offers a beautiful place to unwind.

FOUR QUEEN BEDROOMS

Comfortable rooms to make your own.

Four rooms each have a queen-size bed for two. Each pair of queen bedrooms shares a bathroom with shower and windows opening towards the surrounding landscape.

In the queen-room arrangements, an adjacent loft with a twin bed offers an alternative to sharing a queen bed. Total villa occupancy remains up to ten guests.

OCEAN VIEWS · RAINFOREST PRIVACY

Space for your people.

Share a table overlooking the trees, lounge beside the infinity pool or settle into an airy corner with the forest in view. Bamboo Villa is designed to make the most of natural airflow: sea breezes by day, cooler mountain breezes at night.

Plan your time at Wilder

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

Good to know.

How do we get to Wilder?

Fly into San José (SJO), then take an approximately 20-minute domestic flight to Quepos followed by an approximately 20-minute drive to Wilder. Driving from San José takes around three hours. We are above Matapalo on Costa Rica’s South Pacific coast, near Dominical and Manuel Antonio.

Do we need a 4×4?

Yes. The final approach is approximately 2 km up a gravel mountain road within a gated community. A 4×4 is required. If you prefer not to drive, ask us to arrange a transfer before your arrival.

What is it like to stay in the rainforest?

Wilder is a fully off-grid, solar-powered sanctuary with spring water. Rooms have fans and mosquito nets, without air conditioning. The buildings invite sea breezes by day and cooler mountain air at night. You may hear howler monkeys, birds and the sounds of rainfall; wildlife sightings vary.

Is there walking between the spaces?

Yes. Wilder is a hillside sanctuary with steps and steep garden paths. The bedrooms are within Bamboo Villa; garden paths lead to the Yoga Shala, pavilions and spa. Please discuss any mobility needs with Lena before booking.

What should we pack?

Bring swimwear, comfortable walking shoes with good grip, sandals, a rain jacket, a reusable water bottle and natural insect repellent. Green-season showers are common, especially in the afternoon. Towels, bathroom amenities, umbrellas and headlamps are available.

Is Wi-Fi available?

Yes, high-speed Wi-Fi is available. Some places, including the waterfalls and natural pools, are intentionally without Wi-Fi. Drinking water comes from our rainforest spring; bring a bottle to refill.

What is the atmosphere at Wilder?

Wilder is a family-owned sanctuary with a personal, welcoming atmosphere. We are plant-based, alcohol-free and smoke-free. Please care for the land and shared spaces, and respect quiet times around yoga and other sessions.

How do we book?

Send Lena your dates, number of guests and the meals or experiences you would like to arrange. We will confirm availability, the full booking total and the terms before you reserve. Bamboo Villa has a three-night minimum in low season and a four-night minimum in high and festive seasons. Arrival arrangements and booking terms are confirmed with your individual proposal.
